Prof. Ph.D. Miroslav Šimunić, MD.

He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb in 1981, among the best of his generation. After working in field clinics of SDŽ and HMP Split, he specialized in internal medicine at KBC Split, and passed the specialist exam in Zagreb in 1990.

 

He completed his post-graduate studies in clinical pharmacology in 1993 and defended his master's thesis in 1994 at the University of Zagreb. He defended his doctoral dissertation in 2004 at the University of Split. He was elected assistant professor at the Faculty of Arts in Split in 2005, associate professor in 2009, and full professor since 2016. He has been the Chief of Internal Medicine and Oncology since 2005.

 

At the Department of Gastroenterology, he performs all diagnostic and interventional methods in gastroenterology (clinical examinations, abdominal ultrasound, endoscopies, polypectomies, biopsies, ERCP, stopping bleeding...), for which he was trained on several occasions outside KBC Split. He was secretary, deputy head and head of the Department of Internal Medicine and until recently deputy president and president of the Croatian Gastroenterology Society.

 

He was an invited lecturer, organizer and co-organizer at numerous domestic and foreign congresses. He is the mentor of several diploma theses, master's and doctorate. As an author and co-author, he participated in the publication of 12 books and more than 120 scientific and professional papers in the most prestigious world magazines. He is an active member of HLK, ZLH and HGD. He is the winner of the individual Annual Award of the City of Split for 2012.
